Symposia

In public, the work done at the research centre will primarily be presented and discussed in annual symposia with specific research focuses and questions. Subsequent book publications will make the findings more widely available. Consequently, both the Newest Music Theatre, as a necessary and fascinating form of present-day artistic expression and research in the field of humanities will be brought to the attention of the broader, theatre-going public and, to a certain extent, popularized. The staff at the research centre and a varying number of guests will present their specialist research during these symposia lasting several days. In addition, the research centre pools further research findings on central aspects of the Newest Music Theatre, presenting them in various forms:

  • Smaller-sized symposia looking at questions relating to the theory of the Newest Music Theatre, in particular the theory of intermediality, for example, and the virtuality/fictionality of contemporary drama; these findings, too will be published in book form.
  • Internal academic conferences or work group discussions during which specialized questions and individual aspects of the research objectives will be focused on. Publications from this field of research discourse can most commonly be found in the form of academic essays and individual studies in magazines such as Forum Neues Musiktheater (Forum for New Music Theatre).
